Instagram Registration & Appeal Guide for Cross-Border E-Commerce
Complete Instagram registration guide with step-by-step instructions and appeal process for banned accounts.

Preface
I really hate spreading anxiety, so let me emphasize again: remember, getting banned on various platforms is something cross-border sellers will absolutely face. You can't avoid it, you can't hide from it.
My personal experience tells you that even I get banned when registering myself; community members' experiences tell you that even overseas Chinese in the cleanest environments get banned; overseas community netizens tell you that even the king of heaven has to get banned.
When facing a ban, don't panic. We'll deal with it by following the appeal process!
Instagram Registration
Step 1: Open Official Website, Sign Up
- First line: Email
- Second line: Password
- Third line: Name
There are two approaches here:
Safe Approach: Use your real English full name from daily life. For example, if my name is LV Sao, then it's SAO LV. Just make sure it matches your passport.
Whatever Approach: It doesn't matter, just use whatever you want, like your brand name metabrandl. (For example, I used this approach for my account and still got it unblocked successfully.)
- Fourth line: You can fill in your brand/business name, like metabrandl

Step 2: Enter Your Real Birthday

Step 3: Check Email for Verification Code

Step 4: Registration Complete
Either the account opens smoothly, or you'll see various BUGs or ban notifications.
Remember, getting banned right after registration is normal! Don't overthink it or scare yourself.

Appeal Process
Step 5: Appeal and Resolve
No matter what notification pops up, you can try going through the registration process again. It will likely tell you that the email is already taken, which means your account has been registered.
So just log in directly with your account, and it will tell you that you've been temporarily banned.

Follow the instructions and fill in your registered email and phone number.
You can use a Chinese phone number! For verification code, it may default to sending to your WhatsApp, but since new users don't have WhatsApp, just ignore it and choose via SMS.

Upload Selfie Photo
Some community members hold their passport page for extra security to enhance authenticity, but I didn't do that and still passed.

After one or two business days, try logging into Instagram again. If all goes well, you'll get right in. Done.
