After understanding what SEO is (the "what"): SEO Guide for Beginners: Everything You Need to Know
The next step is to take action (the "how").
This guide covers an essential SEO prerequisite: how to add your website to Google Search Console (GSC), Google's official webmaster tool, to effectively monitor your site's SEO performance.
GSC is also an essential tool in Google's ecosystem.

What is GSC and Why Use It?
In my opinion, GSC serves three main purposes:
1. Monitor Various Performance Metrics
Such as search performance metrics like impressions, clicks, and rankings:

Indexing results and errors:

Page speed and user experience:

Rich snippet usage:

2. Submit Sitemaps and Pages to Accelerate Indexing

3. Integrate with Google Products for Better Results
Such as Google Ads and GA4.

How to Add Your Website to GSC?
It's quite simple overall.
Step 1: Add Property and Enter Your URL

Step 2: Configure DNS Verification at Your Domain Provider

Important: Your domain registrar and DNS provider may be different! For example, I bought my domain from Alibaba, but since I use Hostinger's hosting service, my DNS service has been transferred to Hostinger. So I need to configure DNS records in Hostinger's dashboard, not Alibaba.
Step 3: Done!

FAQ
Here are answers to common beginner questions.
Q: Will my website be crawled by Google if I don't submit a sitemap to GSC?
A: Yes, it will still be crawled! Submitting a sitemap speeds up crawling and makes it more complete. So don't hesitate - submit your sitemap as soon as possible. For example, my own site was still indexed even without submitting a sitemap initially.
Q: How do I submit a sitemap?
A: That will be covered in the next article.
