Global Commerce

Revenue dropped 35% month-over-month, including two consecutive days with only 1 order each, plus refunds — my mindset completely fell apart. Spent the whole weekend anxious, was about to整理周报 (compile the weekly report) in tears when I discovered that because I adjusted the ad TOraS strategy, the return on ad spend was still acceptable — not as disastrous as imagined. Suddenly felt at ease.

When I fall apart, what do I do? Like many others, I "seek remedies randomly when in panic." This weekend, I applied to 4 cross-border ecommerce platforms at once:

  • Ebay (instantly banned, didn't bother appealing)
  • Walmart (all KYC passed, just need to upload products and start operations)
  • Amazon (video verification on Wednesday)
  • Fruugo (no response yet)

I think it's both advisable and not advisable. Advisable because it aligns with the execution power we always advocate — don't overthink or ask around, just do it. Not advisable because it easily causes loss of focus. But for someone with no entrepreneurship experience or professional cross-border ecommerce experience, I believe this attempt's benefits outweigh its drawbacks. I really need more intuitive experience to understand various platforms and channels, rather than relying on hearsay. Let's encourage each other.

Good news! TK Shop made one sale! Bad news! Customer refunded. Payment gone both ways. Forget it.

Positive news! Li Qiang (Chinese Premier) reviewed and approved opinions on expanding cross-border ecommerce! Come on, everyone pile into cross-border ecommerce — that way I can sell more shovels, and also drive down logistics and warehousing prices!

Platform Applications

Personal Brand & IP

  1. Pushed out 15 pieces of content in 2 weeks.

  2. Continued planning and adjusting topics:

    • Launched two new user UGC content topics: lvsao Q&A and Cross-Border Ecommerce Scam Case Collection.
    • Since launch, distributed 50 yuan in red packets to encourage group members sharing their sales experiences.
    • High-quality private domains aren't just for conversion — they must provide more "resources," diverse resources. Thinking and practicing.
  3. I've mentioned many times in summaries: what's the knowledge point about cross-border independent sites that benefited me most? The answer is SEO. From it, I gained a more genuine understanding of real user needs, long-tail and sustainable traffic, and monetization value. Social media is the same — even if I occasionally don't post content, I refuse to post various marketing ads (even unscrupulous ones). Yet many people still find my tutorials through searching their questions, and ultimately find me.

  4. Group 7 was established on 5/9, today is 5/27, currently 260 people. Daily average shows 10+ people entering private domain.

  5. In social media, quality is the bottom line, but "quality" is too easily imitated or surpassed — there are plenty of people stronger and more professional than you who can crush you with better quality. So only personal IP can save you. Though talking about "personal IP" is a bit early for me, fortunately this circle is small, so I need to think clearly ASAP about how to enhance IP value and build irreplaceability.

Why the Messier the Industry, the More Opportunity?

In this industry, almost everyone uses劣币 (inferior coins/fake tactics). When inferior coins can fly, who's going to bother being a良币 (quality coin)?

But reality is, messy industries often mean low barriers, many players, fierce competition, but also more opportunities. When most people play by劣币 rules, you — doing products seriously and operations professionally — can stand out instead.

Why:

  • The Gresham's Law phenomenon exists, but conversely, when quality coins are scarce, their value gets amplified.
  • The messier the industry, the worse consumers' discernment, but also the more they rely on trust and word-of-mouth. And personal IP is the best weapon for building trust.
  • The messier the industry, the less complete the infrastructure, so those who do things seriously can build moats by improving user experience and establishing standards.

So it's not that messy industries have no opportunity — it's about看清楚 (seeing clearly) what exactly is messy. If the mess is competitors, opportunity exists. If the mess is platform rules and business environment, do be cautious.

Core Insight: The messier the industry, those who seriously do products and operations cannot lose. Because the messy ones are the majority, and those who do things seriously are always the minority.
