Voluntary strike-off is only for eligible companies. It is not a substitute for insolvency proceedings. Before applying, check that the company has stopped trading and meets the restrictions that apply during the previous 3 months. Deal with debts, tax matters, employees, and company assets first. On dissolution, the company’s bank account is frozen, and any remaining balance or other assets may pass to the Crown. Check the official Companies House guidance.
1. Go to the official website
Open the Companies House online strike-off service to start. You can also read the official guidance before applying.

Click Apply to strike off a company online.

2. Complete the application
The first three screens are straightforward confirmations. Click Continue as prompted.

Enter your company number and check the company details.

Select the capacity in which you are applying and confirm the basic details.

Tick the box to confirm the information once more.

Follow the prompts to pay by card. That completes the online application. The online fee is £13, but submitting the application does not dissolve the company immediately. Once Companies House accepts it, a notice is published in the Gazette. If nobody objects, strike-off usually takes place no earlier than two months after the notice.
Within 7 days of applying, you must also send a copy of the application to everyone who may be affected. This includes members, creditors, employees, pension fund managers or trustees, and any directors who did not sign. See the official guidance on closing a company.
