Three Methods to Professionally Design Your Store Like a Pro!

Disclaimer: This doesn't apply to small business owners who can spend money for efficiency and professionalism.

But for solo sellers starting out, since this is our livelihood, I strongly recommend doing everything yourself as much as possible, especially the store setup - this is the absolute foundation.

When you see those 500 RMB store setup services and feel tempted, please control yourself. After reading this, you'll know exactly how those 500 RMB services deliver, and how they "flex" their capabilities.

Method 1: Page Builder App

Search "Page Builder" directly in the App Store. These apps have more customizable modules to meet diverse store-building needs.

They also have many ready-made layout templates that, combined with modules, can quickly create standardized, decent-looking pages.

Pricing varies by app:

  • Free version can only publish 1 page
  • $29/month version can publish unlimited pages

(WP pros might prefer this method - it's like installing Elementor plugin for WordPress)

Pros

  1. Beginner-friendly operation
  2. Monthly subscription, cancel anytime
  3. Most free versions can publish 1-3 pages, enough for homepage, About Us, etc., and for trial experience

Cons

  1. Gets expensive long-term
  2. Product page editing is slightly tricky in most apps
  3. These plugins often overwhelm beginners with flashy options, making them want everything. This backfires - no subtraction skills, resulting in messy, slow pages
  4. Though user-friendly, editing happens in third-party plugins, not Shopify's official Theme Editor. Takes adjustment time.

Method 2: Buy Third-Party Themes

Second option: buy theme templates on ThemeForest. You can demo and test features on their official sites.

Installation is done by downloading template files and manually installing.

Pros

  1. One-time purchase, reasonable price
  2. Can buy cheaply on Taobao to test different themes on new stores, then buy official license for the best fit
  3. After manual installation, edit through Shopify Theme Editor
  4. Most themes stay updated
  5. Most themes have built-in features that would require extra plugins, like Instafeed, popup modals, etc.

Cons

  1. Overwhelming variety makes choosing difficult. I've researched for a month and still haven't decided haha
  2. With many layout templates and modules, installation and use can be slightly complex

Method 3: Buy Shopify Official Paid Themes

Seamlessly use Shopify's official paid themes (also made by third parties).

Don't ask me, I haven't used them. Why? Too expensive.

Pros

None

Cons

Too expensive

Q&A

Q: Can I buy pirated versions?

A: Um... try it yourself. I can't say. If I say yes, many got banned, then you'll blame me. If I say no, many use pirated quietly, then I'm wasting people's money.

Q: Are "500 RMB store setup" services legit?

Most 500 RMB store setup workflow:

Setup workflow:

  1. Buy pirated theme for 9.9 RMB on Taobao
  2. Install pirated theme for countless beginners
  3. Deliver and job done

Client attraction workflow:

  1. Record screens of other independent sites; or use template store demos
  2. Copy: "Client spent hundreds on my premium independent site, making millions monthly"

Q: Just tell me directly - what should beginners buy?

A: Buy third-party themes on ThemeForest; choose the best-selling ones you like. Ella and Kalles are very popular. These best-sellers at least guarantee updates and bug fixes.

Q: Can I use one purchased theme for multiple stores?

A: See the first question - decide for yourself.
