Get up and running with Max AI: Blog Canvas in minutes. Follow these steps to create your first AI-enhanced blog post.
Prerequisites
You'll need a Shopify store with admin access and at least one blog collection. The app is embedded in the Shopify admin.
Quick Start Guide
Install and Open the App
- Install the app from the Shopify App Store
- Open the app from Apps in your Shopify admin
- Complete the setup wizard to enable the Theme App Embed
The setup wizard guides you through enabling the Theme App Embed in your Shopify theme editor. This is required for product cards, TOC, and FAQ to render on your storefront.
Enable the Theme App Embed
- The app will provide a deep link to your Shopify Theme Editor
- Enable the
blog-canvas-runtimeapp embed block - Save your theme settings
- Return to the app and click "Refresh status"
The Theme App Embed must be enabled for product cards and structured content to render on your storefront. Without it, only the base blog content will display.
Create Your First Article
- From the app dashboard, click New Article
- Write your content using the rich text editor
- Use the AI toolbar button to improve selected text
- Add formatting with the editor toolbar
Expected result: A draft article is created with auto-save enabled.
Insert a Product Card
- Position your cursor where you want to insert a product
- Click the product card button in the toolbar
- Choose Manual insert to search products, or AI smart insert for recommendations
- Select a product and configure display options
AI smart insert uses semantic matching to recommend products based on your article content. This feature is available on Lite and higher plans.
Configure SEO Settings
- Open the settings panel (right sidebar)
- Use the AI generation buttons to create SEO title and description
- Add a featured image
- Select the target blog collection and author
Expected result: SEO fields are populated with AI-generated content optimized for search engines.
Publish to Shopify
- Click Publish in the editor toolbar
- Choose visibility (visible or hidden) and optional schedule
- Confirm the publish action
- View the published article on your storefront
The app handles SEO metafields, featured images, and URL handles automatically during publish.
