Good News

1. First Brand Collaboration Launched

Collaboration details: I sent products, they published a product review blog and provided a member code; gift exchange for their community events. Since our audiences overlap perfectly, I even asked about paid advertising, but they said no - though they proactively asked "what do you want?" I haven't responded yet, but I want to deepen this collaboration in the future.

Another brand collaboration is in the works, currently being prepared.

2. Instagram KOL Campaign

Partnered with 6-8 KOLs for content. Converted 2 orders. Not many, but still a nice surprise. A few KOL contents haven't been posted yet. One KOL even posted on YouTube. So touched. Currently at 6,800 Instagram followers. Will invest more energy in social media over the next two weeks, expecting follower growth in February.

3. GBP Exchange Rate is Comfortable

Hovering around 9.1. Go UK!

4. Consistent Daily Orders Without Ads

Went skiing in Japan and experienced multiple days without ads, yet still maintained daily orders. I'm finally confident this isn't coincidence - it's the result of my hard work. In other words, friends, you can do this too.

Two weeks of pure ad spend: 350+ GBP, revenue: 2300+ GBP. I'm deeply gratified and more determined to keep going steadily.

5. Purchased Premium Theme

Preparing for a comprehensive site upgrade! Will test conversion improvements after the upgrade.

Bad News

Order volume has been sluggish. Even with ads, conversion wasn't great. If not for a small burst on Sunday, I would have been more stressed.

Especially Australia - no spending for days. I was so frustrated I cut the Australian budget in half and reallocated to the UK. (But Australians are really nice - almost never return items. The US is so difficult - I estimate a 20% return rate. I don't even run US ads, and the few organic orders I get still have returns. So annoying. And when I offer 15% refund, they demand 50%. Infuriating.)

Australia, come on! Hope consumption recovers soon!

E-commerce x Digital Nomad?

What do most Chinese digital nomads actually do? Search on Xiaohongshu - what are their actual monetization businesses?

Most Chinese digital nomads make money by preaching about digital nomad lifestyle, teaching others to become digital nomads, and creating digital nomad communities. Their actual business doesn't teach any real skills - I don't even know how to describe this monetization method. Do you get it?

"Digital nomad" isn't a profession or skill - it doesn't generate income by itself. But these four words still give Chinese office workers a beautiful life fantasy, so they just need to sell this fantasy to them - drawing and selling dreams.

Specifically, you're on the Shanghai subway, see a digital nomad post and get excited - isn't this your ultimate goal as an office worker? So you immediately pay 399 RMB to join the blogger's digital nomad community, thinking that spending 399 means one day you'll become a digital nomad too.

Meanwhile, the blogger (they prefer "community manager") takes your and other members' fees, buys a ticket to Bali, and starts another chapter of digital nomad life.

Reality check: six months later, you're still stuck in Shanghai's subway and rental apartment, and your 399 RMB was just for a lifetime subscription to watch a paid reality show.

So for ordinary people, the key to becoming a digital nomad is acquiring a skill that allows remote work, remote problem-solving, and remote income - like e-commerce, or other third-party markets in the e-commerce industry.

E-commerce Advantage & Digital Nomad Advantage

Currently 70% of my orders can be dropshipped directly from the factory. I still stock inventory at home for operational needs (like using my own packaging, adding gifts and thank-you cards). Of course, I could have the factory do all this too - it would just cost a few extra RMB per item.

This is China, friends. I'm fully utilizing the advantage of our competitive supply chain. Rich product variety at low prices, cheap labor with decent service.

This is why I encourage individual sellers to confidently enter independent websites. This competitive advantage is unique to our country right now. Behind this competition is countless people suffering, but if you don't use it, big corporations will exploit it even more ruthlessly.

Is 2024-2025 the Best Entry Window for Individual Independent Site Sellers?

It's the same logic as why Southeast Asian digital nomad lifestyle became popular in Western culture. Westerners can leverage the economic disparity between countries and enjoy economic advantages. At home, 20 GBP buys terrible fish and chips, but in Thailand, Vietnam, or Philippines, you can enjoy a decent seafood dinner.

So Westerners earn developed-country income and enjoy developing or poor-country living costs in Southeast Asia. Isn't this similar to the essence of global selling?

Digital Nomad Feasibility Suggestions for E-commerce Sellers

Regarding the feasibility of becoming a digital nomad in e-commerce, here are my suggestions:

1) Supply Chain Management

Whether platform or independent site, forget about mass listing and dropshipping - your supply chain and inventory management will crush you. (Dropshipping here refers to mindless mass listing.)

2) Product Selection

Choose small, lightweight, durable products for easier logistics and inventory management.

3) Operational Rhythm

Establish stable operational SOPs so business can run standardized, not dependent on you personally handling everything.

4) Tool Usage

Master various automation tools like ERP, social media management tools, customer service tools to improve efficiency.

5) Mindset Preparation

Being a digital nomad isn't escaping work - it's working differently. You need stronger self-discipline and time management skills.
