Meta Shop Complete Setup Guide and FAQ (3)

What is Meta Shop? Why Open Meta Shop?

Simply put, it's similar to TikTok Shop. However, it's not as mature as TikTok's e-commerce development, with no public marketplace traffic support or infrastructure and fulfillment features.

So what's the use? For example, when posting we can tag products (product tagging), and in the US region we can even directly enable Meta Checkout, which means like TikTok, users can complete the entire payment loop within the app without jumping to a webpage.

For more specific uses, you can check Shopify's summary and experience it yourself after opening.

Summary: In my opinion, Meta Shop is not a strong conversion channel, but rather indirectly increases interactivity across Meta's social media platforms.

What Are the Requirements for Opening?

  1. Completely Free!
  2. Regional Restrictions: Mainland China and Hong Kong regions cannot open it.
  3. Account Assets: Business account, FB Page, Instagram Professional Account, owning a website where you can verify domain ownership, etc.

Let's Do It

For current Shopify players, it will be very easy and friendly. It's highly recommended that you set up and organize the above assets in your Meta Business account before opening Meta Shop.

Step 1: Install Facebook & Instagram App

Search for and install Facebook & Instagram in Shopify (Note: if your Shopify region doesn't meet the above requirements, you won't be able to install this channel)

Enter the App, start setup, and bind your related assets. Bindable assets include: 1 Instagram Professional Account + 1 FB Page.

Note that these assets must all belong to the same business account; and one FB personal account can have many business accounts. (I know newcomers will be confused, being confused is normal. Wait until I explain Meta's asset system in the future, it might be easier to understand.)

Here you can see that my FB account already has 2 sets of assets, and the second set appears grayed out and cannot be connected because it's already bound to my first store.

Of course, you can also follow its guidance to directly create an FB Page first.

Step 3: Connect or Create Pixel, Create Ad Account

Follow the guidance to connect or create a pixel, create an ad account. Here, since I didn't create a pixel in advance in my assets, I need to follow along to create one; if you've already created one, you can bind it directly.

Step 4: Submit Everything

Submit everything and wait a moment.

Step 5: Go to Commerce Manager

Go to Meta, enter Commerce Manager, find the shop we've just opened, follow the guidance, submit relevant verification materials and information, fill in everything truthfully, there's no difficulty at all, and there won't be very strict KYC review.

Step 6: All Done!
