Set up Max AI Google Feed Ascend and start syncing products to Google Merchant Center

Getting Started

This guide will walk you through the complete setup process to start syncing your Shopify products to Google Merchant Center.


Installation

From Shopify App Store

  1. Visit the Shopify App Store and search for "Max AI: Google Feed Ascend"
  2. Click "Add app" button
  3. Log in with your Shopify admin account
  4. Click "Install app" to confirm
  5. Grant the necessary permissions

Required Permissions

These permissions are required to:

  • Fetch your product data from Shopify
  • Generate Google Merchant Center compliant product feeds
  • Support multiple languages and markets

Initial Setup

Step 1: Connect Google Merchant Center

Goal: Link your Google Merchant Center account to the app

Steps:

  1. After installation, the dashboard will display a Setup Guide
  2. Click "Sign in with Google" button
  3. In the OAuth popup:
    • Select the Google account with Merchant Center access
    • Click "Allow" to authorize the app

Requirements:

  • A valid Google account
  • An existing Google Merchant Center account
  • Admin access to the Merchant Center

Success Indicators:

  • Dashboard shows green "Connected" status
  • Health Metrics displays "Connection Status: Connected"
  • You can select target Merchant Center accounts

If you don't have a Google Merchant Center account, create one at Google Merchant Center before connecting.


Step 2: Create Your First Feed

Goal: Set up your first product feed

Steps:

  1. Click "Create Feed" button on the dashboard
  2. Select Feed Type:
TypePurpose
Primary FeedMain product data source, contains complete product information. Best for most scenarios.
Supplemental FeedModify or supplement existing Primary Feed data. Links via product ID.
Local Inventory FeedLocal inventory data for physical store pickup and local inventory ads.
Review FeedProduct reviews feed (Coming Soon)
  1. Choose Template or Start Fresh:

    • Select a saved template if available
    • Or choose "Start from Scratch"
  2. Click "Continue" to enter the Rule Engine


Step 3: Configure Feed Rules

Goal: Define which products to include and how to map product data

3.1 Product Filtering

Select products to include in your feed:

  • Collections: Select specific product collections
  • Vendors: Filter by vendor
  • Product Types: Filter by product type
  • Tags: Include or exclude by tags
  • Price Range: Set minimum and maximum price
  • Stock Status: Exclude out-of-stock items

3.2 Target Market

Configure feed target settings:

  • Target Country: Select target country (US, UK, DE, etc.)
  • Target Language: Select target language
  • Currency: Select target currency

3.3 Product Data Mapping

Map Shopify product fields to Google Merchant Center required fields:

3.4 Save Draft

After configuration:

  • Click "Save" to save as draft
  • Or click "Save & Generate" to generate immediately

Step 4: Generate and Submit Feed

Goal: Generate a Google Merchant Center compliant feed file

Steps:

  1. Click "Generate" button in the Rule Engine

  2. The system will:

    • Fetch matching Shopify products
    • Apply all mapping rules
    • Generate TSV/CSV/XML format file
  3. After generation:

    • Feed status changes to "Active"
    • Product count and file size displayed
    • Feed file available for download
  4. Manual Submission to Google Merchant Center:

    • Go to Google Merchant Center > Products > Feeds
    • Select your feed source
    • Upload the generated feed file
  5. Auto Sync (Optional):

    • Configure automatic generation schedule
    • Set up scheduled tasks for automatic updates
