Create Your First Feed

This guide walks you through creating your first product feed from start to finish.


Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • Installed Max AI: Google Feed Ascend from Shopify App Store
  • Connected your Google Merchant Center account
  • Products published in your Shopify store

Step-by-Step Guide

From the dashboard, click the "Create Feed" button in the top right corner.

Alternatively, navigate to /app/feeds/new directly.

Choose the appropriate feed type for your needs:

For your first feed, select Primary Feed.

  • Use Template: Select from saved templates (if available)
  • Start from Scratch: Begin with default settings

For your first feed, choose "Start from Scratch".

Fill in the basic feed settings:

Define which products to include:

Quick Start Options:

  • Leave filters disabled to include all products
  • Or enable specific filters:
    • Select specific collections
    • Exclude out-of-stock items
    • Set price range

For your first feed, start with all products. You can create filtered feeds later.

Map Shopify fields to Google attributes:

Required Mappings:

  • id → Product ID (auto-configured)
  • title → Product Title
  • description → Product Description
  • link → Product URL (auto-configured)
  • image_link → Featured Image (auto-configured)
  • price → Variant Price
  • availability → Inventory Status
  • brand → Vendor

Optional Enhancements:

  • Enable AI for title/description optimization
  • Add custom labels for segmentation
  • Configure shipping and tax settings

Before generating:

  1. Click on a sample product in the preview panel
  2. Verify all field values are correct
  3. Check that images load properly
  4. Confirm prices and availability are accurate

Click "Save & Generate" to:

  1. Save your feed configuration
  2. Start the generation process
  3. Create the feed file

Generation typically takes 5-60 seconds depending on catalog size.

After generation completes:

  • Download: Get the feed file for manual upload
  • Copy URL: Use the public URL for Google fetch schedule
  • View Details: See product count and file size

Next Steps

After creating your first feed:

  1. Submit to Google Merchant Center

    • Go to GMC > Products > Feeds
    • Add a new data source
    • Enter the feed URL or upload the file
  2. Monitor Product Status

    • Check for disapprovals in GMC
    • Fix any data quality issues
    • Resubmit after corrections
  3. Set Up Automation

    • Enable scheduled sync in Settings
    • Configure webhook updates
    • Monitor sync status
  4. Optimize Performance

    • Review performance metrics
    • A/B test different content
    • Use AI for optimization
